Glossary
Core investing, portfolio, and dashboard terms used throughout ChartModo.
Net Contributions
Net contributions measure capital flow into and out of positions from your recorded ledger.
In ChartModo, the current definition is buys minus sell proceeds from your recorded ledger.
A positive number means more capital has gone into positions than has been taken back out through recorded sales.
A negative number means recorded sell proceeds currently exceed recorded buy amounts in the ledger being analyzed.
Open Cost Basis
Open cost basis is the remaining recorded cost of positions that are still open after applying any sales.
It is distinct from market value because it reflects what you paid, not what the market says the position is worth today.
Realized P/L
Realized profit and loss comes from completed sales.
In ChartModo, realized P/L is calculated from matched lots using FIFO.
Unrealized P/L
Unrealized profit and loss is the gain or loss on positions you still hold.
It compares current market value to remaining open cost basis.
Portfolio Equity Curve
The portfolio equity curve estimates how your open portfolio value changed across stored market snapshots and your transaction history.
ChartModo shows coverage explicitly so incomplete snapshot history is not mistaken for a full broker-grade equity history.
